What surprised me what that there was no reference to all the literature there is on the human being in space. No reference to Eastern philosophy such as feng shui, no reference to psychology and how space comes into play in that way..... a major link in my mind is Merleau Ponty's writings on phenomenology. Criticism aside I highly commend designers who take physical interaction with space into consideration.

I actually compared the Scuola Domunale Dell’infanzia Diana to my experience of classroom environment. Ive stated in my written reading response, If a classroom isn’t set up or prepared for a student, it affects the students’ behavior and how they may react to the un-organization of the environment. In contrast, if they enter a classroom that is structured, organized for the day’s lesson, or prepared for the student in anyway, it subconsciously creates a learning and ready environment to learn. But what was the bigger issue associated with this Scuola Domunale Dell’infanzia Diana? A lot of my understanding and comparison to the "pedagogical norm" of an educational environment was expressed in my written assignment as well.

Diana’s question that children were living in a showcase is new and intriguing to me. I personally always believe children are more sensitive with environment and surroundings with different perspectives than adults. Children who grow up in an aesthetic-pleasing place like Reggio Emilia are more likely to have better aesthetic tastes and possible better behaviors and manners. Besides the positive comments from visitors to Reggio, Diana’s question makes me think about the mutual relationship between environment and inhabitants.
For my experience, the concern like ‘You are very good, but there is an excess of aesthetic care in you work’ seldom happens in the cities in China. Shanghai where is my second hometown is famous for its delicate appreciation. The representatives are the interior design of bars, cafes and restaurants. People who go to in tasteful places are more likely to show better manners in superior environment. If there is ‘an excess of aesthetic care’, that probably means artifact during the creation of beauty. It’s a process which can be improved during time.

After I read this articles, Reggio Emilia approch is required to three thing to succed their educational goal. first, the teacher who can provide students critical thinking, second, parents who can be a considerate guidiance. third, good environment as a third teacher.
As for me, Reggio Emilia is a ideal type of education model. I think it's really hard to achieve three requirement while I ovserved really real classroom in American public school. I want to ask how can I apply to this model in my future class room. I should have participated today's class to ask my question to the class and professor. I am sorry that I lost my wallet so i need to handle my credit card issue. sorry !
